President – Kevin Phillips
Kevin has been a resident of Fort Myers, Florida since 1983. Kevin is a State–Certified General Contractor. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Carolina University, Master Certificates in Concrete Repair, Certification from the Paint Quality Institute, Certification in Window Installation and Glazing from multiple manufacturers of hurricane impact-glass companies. Kevin is a past Board Member of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the International Concrete Restoration Institute(ICRI) and past Board Member of the Southwest Florida Chapter of Construction Specifier’s Institute(CSI).
Kevin first began his relationship with R.L. James, Inc during his 21-year career as a representative of a regional paint manufacturer, Flex Bon Paints (which is now a part of the Sherwin-Williams Company). Kevin gained a wealth of experience working his way all the way up from the production line, quality control, sales inside and outside the store, and ultimately Director of Operations.
Kevin has known R.L. “Bob” James since he first started his company in 1988. Kevin joined the R.L. James team in January of 2004 as an Estimator and Project Manager, shortly thereafter took on the role of Director of Sales and Administration as well, then Vice President, and eventually President. Acting as a Project Manager under the tutelage of John Dahin (the company’s Head of Restoration and General Contractor Qualifier), and Bob James (CEO) as his mentor, Kevin gained tremendous practical and theoretical experience. He received his General Contractor’s license in 2010 and now shares the responsibility of GC Qualifier for the company with John Dahin. He has developed strong relationships with many structural engineers and property managers. Having been involved with literally hundreds of projects over the years, Kevin truly enjoys the details of technical specifications, troubleshooting, and client interaction.
